Bristol Community Accountants is a community interest company that helps local Bristol Charities and Not For Profit organisations with their day-to-day and statutory accounting needs. It was formed in Feburary 2019 as a community interest company (CIC). Originally, it was called Bristol Community Accountancy Project which was setup in 1997 as a charity. The structure was changed in 2019 in order that the senior staff team could take over the direct responsbility of running the organsation.

Our primary purpose is to assist local not for profit groups with their statutory accounting obligations. We provide a number of services. The main ones being, Independent Examinations for charities, Annual accounts production, Payroll, and a Bookkeeping service.

Our long experience of the voluntary and community sector means that we can provide this in a way that is accessible to small groups and that respects and understands the issues they face in meeting their organisational and legal requirements.

Our policy has always been (and will continue to be) to offer the professional support needed to groups to enable them to do the job that they were set up for. The requirements made on charities now under the SORP regulations have made the management of charities even more complex. Accounting for charities is now in many ways more complex than it is for the commercial sector.
